We are seeking an experienced, high caliber software development engineer to design, develop, and test new software for medical product mobile apps, web based user portals, and database infrastructure. Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical: Assist in developing the next generation system Deliver new features and security updates on time Create testable code and provide documentation for new features and changes Writes Engineering Test Reports (ETR), memos, Engineering Change Papers, creates travelers and develops written operator procedures Resolves and/or facilitates the resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence Maintain existing Ruby on Rails web applications and API. Validates equipment and processes as required Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned


Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success: Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience 1-2+ years of Ruby on Rails development experience Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance Your preferred qualifications and education: 1-2+ years mobile app development experience Basic knowledge implementing JavaScript Development experience with a major database system (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL or Oracle) Experience developing on Linux or OS X operating systems Experience with git for source control Three plus years of progressively more responsible design and experience Broad technical knowledge; expertise in one or more relevant specialties Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred
